Twin Switch (Sweet Valley Jr. High, 10)
Published in Paperback by Bantam Books (12 October, 1999)
Authors: Jamie Suzanne and Francine Pascal
Average review score:

Awesome Book
This book was great but I don't like how Liz is always switching with Jessica. I mean Liz can't do everything for Jessica but it was also a nice thing to do. It's probably because I'm more like Elizabeth and I like Liz better than I like Jessica.

This book was the best book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this book is very good. I love to read about twins such as Jessica and Elizabeth because I am a twin too!Having a twin is the best thing in the world. So my sister and I read this series to see what other twins go through. Read this BOOK. I also think that this book is great because we switch places too!

Great book!
This is the best SVJH book that I have read.By far! It was quite surprising how Elizabeth agreed to switch places with Jessica.I think that Jessica should have remembered that her friends don't get along with each other before she chose her dance party commitee members. And Damon is the best!

Valley of the Moon: The Diary of Maria Rosalia De Milagros (Dear America)
Published in Hardcover by Scholastic (April, 2001)
Author: Sherry Garland
Average review score:

One of my FAVORITE DEAR AMERICA BOOKS!!
I really love "Valley of the Moon". In the book, Maria and her brother Dominigo are orphans and are loved by a family they work for. Maria searches for her birth parents and finds out what happened. The book also tells about that she is a devoted Christian and when California becomes a republic. Also, here is how Maria found about her parents and how a little scar made the story tell.

Maria's father met her mother. She was an idian and the father fell in love with her because of her charm and beauty. But, it was not allowed for an idian to marry a white man. But, they got maried in an idian wedding ceromony. the mother gives birth to maria, then her brother. That's when disaster strikes. Smallpox have hit, and while papa is gone, the mother rushes with her 2 children to a spanish mission to get vaccinated. There is only enough medicine for 2 people, so the mother makes the ulitmate sacrifice of love and her two children get the medicine. She dies near the mission and that's when maria and her brother are taken in by a family. what happened to maria's father was heartbreaking. he found his house empty and was told that the family died of smallpox. Later on he never married and died a heartbroken man. So, there is a taste of it. still, READ THE BOOK!!!

ONE OF THE BEST DEAR AMERICA BOOKS I'VE EVER READ!!!!!
Valley of the Moon: The Diary of Maria Rosalia de Milagros is Sherry Garland's second Dear America Book. In this book, Rosalia, or Rosa for short, is a servant to the wealthy Medina family. She and her brother are orphans. Their mother died of Smallpox on a Catholic mission in Yerba Buena. Rosa has high hopes of finding out who her parents are. Meanwhile, Mexico goes to war with the U.S. An all out exciting book--I won't give away the ending. This book showed me a time period I knew practically nothing about.

An excellent addition to the Dear America series!
"Valley of the Moon" is an excellent historical fiction novel about a Spanish/Indian girl of about 13, Maria Rosalia (Rosa) who works for the wealthy Medina family in Alta California, in 1846.

Rosa secretly knows how to write, and when she finds a blank diary cast away by the wealthy Miguela, she decides to keep a diary. She writes about the work that she does on the rancho, festivals, and her friends (and the boy she loves!), and also her wonderings of who her and her little brother's parents really were - and she is determined to find out. However, with the "norteamericanos" taking over her homeland, and thoughts of war in the air, life soon becomes much more complicated for Rosa.

This was another excellent novel in the Dear America series, and I'd highly recommend it, as it was very exciting and interesting, and also taught me a lot about the Spanish culture. I'd definitely recommend this book for ages 11 - 14!

Its awesome!
Hi, I have read this book lasy year( i've read no. 11 and waiting for no. 12 now)but i still can remember coz' its too awesome.I really like sal and lizzie to be a couple. They make a good one. And then here comes anna. Anna and sal are good friends for years(since kindergarten).the three of them became good friends. Well not when anna knew about them kissing.( it was really romantic when sal & liz kiss in steven's room)That happens when liz and jess parents are out and they planned a party. They thought its going to be cool but it turns out the other way.The party is getting wild, half of the people there, are drunk. And anna ran out of the house coz seing the people get drunk remmember her of her bro, who died because he was hit bye a bunch of drunk high school boys. and liz invite her ex- boyfriend to the party. Sal gets nervous afraid liz wil like back her ex.There is so much more. YOU MUST READ IT!

This Book Was Great!
I loved how this series is going so far! It's confusing and happy and dramatic all in one! It's a mixed emotions type of book. I have read all of the books and I can't wait for the next one to come out! I can't wait to see what happens with Elizabeth and Salvador! It's a great book and I loved it! I also am wondering what will happen with Jessica, that either she'll get a boy friend or if she'll be friends with a new girl, etc. Lizzie is my main person I can't wait to see what happens with though! The other characters I want to learn a little more about like Kristin and Bethel. Well, read this book and the rest of the series! Happy Reading!

GREAT BOOK!!!
This was a great book. I liked the romantic touch to it! I am sort of a sap when it comes to romance, but it is unusual to find romance books for younger people. I cannot wait until the next Jr. High book comes out. I want Liz and sal to get togather, but I also want sal and Anna together. Somehow Liz is my favorite character but then I hate her because she always gets what she wants and Anna never does. I thnk Sal was wrong to have led anna on even if her didn't realize it. Well, that's all. Read the book! IT'S GREAT!!!

Don't Answer the Phone (Sweet Valley University Thriller Edition Number 12)
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Authors: Francine Pascal and Laurie John
Average review score:

Deja vu...??
Well, to start with, this book was great, BUT! It reminds me a lot of that SVH 3-part miniseries about the werewolf in London. I mean, in both books, there's a guy named Luke who sometimes changes into some "bad guy" identity which he doesn't know. And it ends almost the same, too. Still recommended for the thrilling suspense!

Deadly Terror
I love this book! This is one of the best books ever made! I love the main character, Alexandra Rollins. She have started to get chilling phone calls from maniac, who threats that he is going to commit a murder. And he will... This book was terrofying in some parts. It was very scary and in one part (believe me or not) I jumped in the air, because I got scared so much. This is interesting too and it has got horror throught the scary phone calls, love through Alexandra's new admirer (my fave character in this book) and drama through the fights between Alexandra and her boyfriend Noah (I hate him).

I'll rate this with 5 big, fat stars!

Very good thriller!
"Don't Answer the Phone is a very suspensful and mysterious thriller. I liked how Alexandra was the main character. The only problem was, her boyfriend, Noah was acting kind of weird. I thought it was kind of scary when the person kept calling her at the SVU Hot-Line. If you have read and liked the other SVU Thrillers, you will love this one!

One Last Kiss (Sweet Valley University, No 29)

A very good book
This book is extremely well written, and I give my thanks to Francine Pascal. It tells about Todd's old girlfriend, Gin-Yung Suh, who has a brain tumor and is dying. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Wakefield(Todd's used-to-be-ex gotten back together)is going crazy! Her old boyfriend, Tom Watts, dumped her because he didn't believe her when she said that his new-found father was making passes at her. Now that he knows the truth, he is desperately trying to get her forgiveness. Meanwhile, his girlfriend he sort of has(she was kind of a person to take his mind off Elizabeth after they broke up)has other ideas. I rate this book a 9 on a scale of 1-10 because it is a wonderfull, sad, romantic story. I loved this book and recommend it

This Book is really good and Sad!!

Maria Who? (Svh Senior Year (Sweet Valley High), 8)
Published in Paperback by Bantam Books (10 August, 1999)
Author: Francine Pascal
Average review score:

SVSY ROCKS MY WORLD!!!
I am obsessed with these books! I can't stop reading them. They are definitely the best best BEST series of Francine Pascal's! I love the way they leave you hanging, but I also get mad because as soon as I finish one book I HAVE to read the next one or go crazy! This book doesnt seem as good as the others (its the next book I have to read) but Im gonna read it just because it probably has things that I will need to know for the next book. I have three things to say - 1) Maria and Ken need to hook up (although every time i think of Ken I remember when he hooked up with Liz and then Jess) 2) Jeremy and Jessica need to be together! I hate Will he needs to crawl back to Melissa! What is Jessica's problem? Why does she keep thinking of him after all thats happened? It's driving me nuts. If I were Jess I would so want Jeremy!! 3) LIZ AND CONNER NEED TO GET TOGETHER I READ THESE BOOKS BECAUSE OF THEM!!! I REREAD ALL OF THEIR SCENES!! PLEASE LET THEM HOOK UP!!

BEST BOOK YET
I'm a 14 year old reader and I LOVE SVHSY. It is the best SV series yet. I liked this book, because Now that Connor and Elizabeth aren't together, I pay more attention to everything else. I used to just skim through first and find the Conner and Liz parts, then go back and read it. My favorite part IS anything with Liz or Conner. I hope that Ken and Maria get together, and that Liz and conner get back together. Conner needs to apologize to Liz and Megan.

8th Book in the SVH: Senior Year Series
Following the dramatic Elizabeth-Conner scene in the previous book (#7: "Boy Meets Girl"), Elizabeth Wakefield is back at the Fowler's mansion after discovering Conner McDermott's mother is an alcoholic, and Conner refuses to discuss it with anyone--especially Liz. Not everything is sour for Liz, though, in this book. Maria Slater makes the first bold move of patching things up with her concerning the boy trouble they had over Conner. It's great to finally see these two friends again.

And speaking of Maria, she's asked to star in the school play, "Courting Priscilla", alongside Jessica Wakefield and Tia Ramirez. However, Maria's stardom is starting to go to her head, and her two new friends may not have enough patience to put up with it, not that I blame them.

There is some added excitement in this eighth book. It looks like Jessica has a secret admirer who's been giving her expensive gifts and poetry--and it's not her boyfriend, Jeremy Aames. (Hint: The mystery man has been interested in Jessica before. But watch out for the red herring.)

Another notable mention: Angel Desmond, Tia's longtime older boyfriend, makes his "main character" debut in "Maria Who?". He's recently taken a second job as a bartender at the local hangout (the Riot) to Tia Ramirez's dismay, because not only does it keep him from her, but Angel's boss is extremely strict and won't allow him to converse with any of his friends while he's working. Besides his hectic schedule, the biggest problem I saw was Tia's unnecessary pressure on Angel. I mean, why does she expect him to pay for everything? Why doesn't she get a part-time job and help out with their dates, especially with their big anniversary coming up?

Aside from that, "Maria Who?" was pretty good, although it didn't really spotlight the "Nina issue" like the synopsis on the back cover described.

Changing the subject: If you like SVH: Senior Year books, then there's another teen romance series you might want to check out: Love Stories. I haven't read any of them yet, but I've heard they're pretty good.

Good-Bye, Elizabeth (Sweet Valley University, No 38)

almost good
i rate this book 4 stars i mean come on what in the world jessica was thinking anyway? she shouldn't have done that to tom 'coz she did not even thing of what will happen in the future. And what was scott doing anyway the day he and liz leaves it was like scott wanted to be at denver before they even ride to the plane. elizabeth's decision is good also because she's going to making a big mistake if she have the wrong choice.

FINALLY!!!
I am soooo happy that a book like this was published. I have read every book in this series and this was probably the best one! It's about time Liz and Tom got back together. This book was sad as Liz relived all her memories of the time she and Tom shared. I almost cried when it looked liked Tom was headed for a nervous breakdown. Jessica was hilarious when she admitted to Tom that he was a good kisser. I just hope she doesn't develop a crush on him in future books. I doubt she will though. Liz and Tom better stay together from now on, now that they have reunited. That was the best part of the whole book when he recognized the locket and he went onto the plane. I'm so glad Dana and Scott are out of the picture. They were so annoying. I can't wait until 'Elizabeth-New York' comes out so I can see what happens with her and Tom!!

I LUV THIS BOOK!
This book was probably one of the most exciting SVUs that I have ever read (I've read through the whole serious including thrillers...u could say I'm OBSESSED!) well anyways....I'm soo happy that after all this time Tom and Liz FINALLY got back together! Its so romantic and exciting how they finally confess their true love to each other exactly as the plane is about to take off whisking Elizabeth away with the evil and horrible sleaze also known as Scott Sinclair. I was realieved when they finally told each other they Loved each other because I mean I have been reading "Your not my sister", "Breaking Away", and finally this one "Good-bye Elizabeth" and i am so glad they are finally together again because i definatly think that Tom and Liz belong together (this sounds tacky but its like they have a spiritual connection as well as a physical one) So newayz..if u like the SVU books this is a must read must have book! Enjoy peoplez!

Phoenix for Families: A Parents' Guide to Life in the Valley of the Sun
Published in Paperback by Double B Pubns (December, 2000)
Authors: Michelle Burgess, Hillary Burgess, and Haley Kay Burgess
Average review score:

A Phoenix-area mom says "Thanks"!
As a mom new to the Phoenix area, I found this book to be a wonderful resource, filling me in on everything from local parenting groups to annual festivals. There's something for every family in this book.

Nutrition-minded parents will appreciate the list of farmer's markets in the area, and my kids and I had a wonderful time at some of the family-friendly farms and dairies the book highlighted. Not only does author Michelle Burgess provide the lowdown on kid favorites such as local parks and zoos, she also gives parents helpful suggestions for fun AND educational activities, such as the above-mentioned farms, off-the-beaten path museums and volunteer projects families can participate in together.

The book includes everything a parent needs to know about area outdoor activities, camps, cultural diversions, sporting events and more. Most of the attractions have helpful descriptions as well as contact information and a price guide. The back of the book contains emergency phone numbers and first-aid tips, including a list of scary critters and plants to avoid. Whimsical illustrations by Burgess' children round out the book.

Our family loves this book! I'd recommend it to any Phoenix-area family -- even seasoned dwellers could learn a thing or two from it.

Fun Ideas at your Fingertips!
Thank you, Michelle, for finally providing a comprehensive, easy to read source for Phoenix fun. As a mother of three children who has barely survived 5 summers without the book, I am looking forward to a much less stressful sizzling summer. For a local Mom, this is truly the answer. I am impressed with the way the book is laid out by activity, location, season, etc. Having locations and phone numbers makes finding additional information a breeze. I would certainly recommend this book for anyone residing in the area who knows there is a life beyond thier stucco walls!

Foundation of our Society is Family
Believe we need more books like this - geared to fun and entertainment for family. Since I was born in Phoenix, was tickled to see such a refreshing approach for the "tourist" but in actuality there is tourist in each person residing in the Phoenix metroplex. Such a fabulous part of the world and indeed a family treat.

The Body Code: A Personalized Wellness and Weight Loss Plan Developed at the World Famous Green Valley Spa
Published in Paperback by Pocket Books (January, 2001)
Authors: Jay Cooper and Kathryn Lance
Average review score:

Complete guide for health and wellness improvement
This book finally brings together the importance of food and exercise in relation to overall health. BODY CODE explains this in a manner everyone can understand and implement into their lives. This is not a diet but a life style change that if followed will improve every aspect of life. I too was taught by Jay Cooper the body code program. Proper exercise combined with proper foods for your genetic makeup will get you off the diet merry go round. Body Coding teaches us that we do not have to be a rocket scientist in order to understand proper food and proper exercise. Many of the DIET books are either impossible to understand or impossible to follow for the rest of your life. The key is knowing who you are and how your physical self reacts to different foods and exercise. Read the book, follow Jays' advice and your life will change for the better! Thanks Jay for a great book.

I'm losing weight and I feel great!!
I never heard of Jay Cooper before I got this book - and I am not in the income bracket that allows for spa visits. I also can't weigh in on the Abravamel (sp) controversy, except to say that all diets seem to build on previous information. In general I am very leery of trying diet books - I feel that they are usually a waste of money. But a friend highly recommended this one, and after seeing how well she was doing I bought the book. I have found it to be a terrificly well organized and very livable plan that addresses all the issues of dieting, from exercise and energy level to body shape, food cravings and metabolism. I highly recommend it for those who, like me, have struggled with weight over the long haul and are burned out on fad diets. This is a well written and information packed blend of western and eastern research into what makes a body work, and how to fine tune it. More than just a diet - it is an easily followed road map to a healthier, and more energetic away of life - where weight loss is a natural event. Thank you Mr. Cooper and Ms. Lance!!

This really works!
I was body typed by Jay in Green Valley, and I bought the book to keep up with the plan. I could never lose the "last 5 pounds" no matter how much I exercised or ate well. I finally lost those pounds when I followed my "Communicator" diet and cut out flour, sugar, etc... I highly reccomend this book and encourage everyone to look at the plans as a lifestyle and not just a temporary diet. Once you know your type, you will always be able to control your weight.

Broken Angel (Svh Senior Year (Sweet Valley High), 10)
Published in Paperback by Bantam Books (12 October, 1999)
Author: Francine Pascal
Average review score:

Another good SVH Senior Year book
I liked this one... although it was kinda boring in the beginning with the whole Angel and his money problem, but after a while, you'll turn page after page wanting more. I can't wait to find out what happens with Jessica and Will. Jeremy was kinda mean in this book. Personally, I would rather have Jess and Will together than Jessica and Jeremy. And PLEASE, let there be a Liz Conner part in the next book!! Or, have Liz date another guy, like Todd. (= Can't wait for the next book! Trust me, having to wait about a month for the next SVH Senior Year book to come out, is worth it! I'm totally hooked!

Interesting, FUnny, Realistic, Romantic!
This book is reall great! The whole Angel thing is so realistic, and the way he's pressured with the money situation is so well- written it makes you wonder what you'd do in his shoes. Tia is also worried that she's become part of the problem. Jessica loves both Will and Jeremy. Even though Will ruined her life, she still has a thing for him. I am a fan of both Will and Jeremy, but I cracked up when I read the part where Jeremy wrote a letter to, you know, and ended it off with "If you need someone else to pick on, there's this guy Will Simmons...", I fell over laughing! I love both Jeremy and Will, but it was mad funny! Anyway, this book is great! Jess falls for Will, but is nervous to admit it cause she's afraid she's betrayign Jeremy. Liz is all depressed about Conner. COnner is having problems with his mother, who's suddenly acting strange. The whole Will/Jessica/Jeremy love triangle is well written. The Angel situation with his money and Tia is well written. ALso, the funny thing Jeremy wrote is well written. This book is great!

Great, Funny, and Realistic
This book is great! Angel is dealing with his money problems, Tia is dealing with Angel, Jessica is dealing with Will and Jeremy, Liz is dealing with Conner, Will is dealing with Jessica, Conner is dealing with his mom, Jeremy is dealing with Jessica, Andy is dealing with himself, and they are also dealing with the kidnapping thing. Also, one part that caught my eye is the part where Jeremy writes his letter to God, and ends it with, "If you need soemone else to torture, there's this guy Will Simmons...", showing his rivalry with Will. Now I am a fan of both Will and Jeremy, btu that line cracked me up. Anyway, this book is great!
